"But you're so *old*..."
Uhhhhhh okay! So New Super Mario Bros. Wii is going to include... the motherfudgin' Koopalings. Since I never could get myself to enjoy Superstar Saga, I didn't get to enjoy their crappy cameo there so uh... YEAH. SIGN ME UP FOR THIS SHIT. I loved Bowser's seven little demonspawns from hell. Granted I... knew them best in their cartoon incarnations (hence I have a tendency to call them Kooky and Bully and Kootie Pie and Cheatsy and Bigmouth on reflex rather than Ludwig and Roy and Wendy and Larry and Morton Jr.), but they were fucking great Super Mario villains and I was pissed as all hell when it came to be that Bowser Jr. totally took their place.

SO THAT'S SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO.

I started Trifecta 9 yesterday, fitting as it was the 15th then, so that's totally in the timeframe I wanted. Juuuuust broke 4k words. Or seven pages. Admittedly I got a bit lazy in almost-killing Paul when it came to rescuing that asshole. I just felt it better to skip right onto where Conway feels like shit for playing with his life on a bet even though this is really Paul's just desserts for being a prick. I spared no expense in fully detailing Paul's near-demise (even though it was a long time to go without any dialog to write), of course. I just felt it would be boring as shit to actually write out the segment where they dig his ass out of the snow. Let's cut to the ANGST because there's another subplot I want to open up before Paul comes to.

In Chapter 9, there will be a couple of OCs (who will probably never be seen again after this) that play a significant role in the story. I went ahead and designed them before starting this chapter, but I've been experimenting with a new sort of thing that I think I should gage your reactions on:

Initial Product > Stage 2 > Final Product

So basically what I've done is thaaaat... after inking what I've drawn and scanning it, I manually go in and thin out the lines myself. Since I'm sort of a sloppy artist, I figured maybe my stuff wouldn't look so shitty if I just thinned out my lines a bit. It's too bad there's no convenient way to do this since it takes up so much fucking time, but... I dunno. You think it looks better thinned out?

These two will be informal rivals-of-the-chapter for Paul and Conway, though it isn't exactly mutual. Girl with fiery hair is Janelle while the dull-looking one is Mina. I'm sure there are many parallels that can be drawn here, but they both have signature Pokemon that'll be featured in the chapter. Janelle will have Monferno (sort of a foreshadowing of events to come in a certain episode that will air in a couple of days!) while Mina has Gible.

I guarantee you that this will be a trainwreck.

In a fit of boredom, I drew the fictional offspring that won't appear until the story's epilogue, whenever that will be! Hahaha! Oh god they all look stupid.

Um. Guh. That's all I've got now. Goddamn is it a good thing I got the ritalin upped this time around. I'm really beginning to lose my concentration on everything.

Haa, your designs INSINUATE they'll be utter spotlight hogs, but that's unfortunately the status quo mentality when it comes to any OCs, huh. XD;

(The "dull-looking one" wears an outfit that would make Candice Michelle blink ...well, before nodding in approval XD)

As far as thinning out the lines, all I can suggest is practice finessing your pen strokes in meatspace (because, y-yeah, trying to fix all that with the mouse is VERY NO).

EDIT: I assume you employ Magic Wand-type tools, but the pixely finish you end up with is hardly a desirably trade-off.. :<

If by any chance you're still using Flairs, they are juicy enough that you can just barely skirt the tip over the surface and thin lines will show up. It's just a matter of stabilizing the rest of your drawing hand to the surface first. :Þ
